In group one, they presented chapters one through four. In chapter one we had Jessenia, Rem, and Jaely which they all split. All of them did very well on their first presentation. Jessnia was the first one up and she spoke about Speaking Excites. What's the worst case scenario? Why study public speaking? Do people really speak anymore? Next up was Rem, who spoke about the seven components of the communication process which are Souce, Receiver, Message, Channel, Feedback, Situation and Noise. He also spoke about “Why is public speaking a unique form of communication?” and ”What topics should you talk about?”. Finally, Jaely finished off chapter one with  “What should you avoid in a presentation?”, “Becoming an effective speaker”, “Listening” and  “How to reduce your fear of Presentation”. Chapter two was presented by Matthew and Kevin. Matthew did the foundation of public speaking which is Invention, organization, styles, understanding and delivery and Tips that’ll help you prepare for your first presentation. Kevin finished off chapter two with common types of presentations which are impromptu, presenting yourself, presenting a classmate and demonstrations. Next, Annabella and Gabriella presented chapter three. Annabella talked about searching on a topic and evaluating topics. Gabriella finished chapter three talking about the purposes of speeches which are to inform, to persuade and to highlight. The last chapter of the first presentation is presented by Jessica, Darleny, and Naomy. Jessica started off speaking about Audience analysis, conventional wisdom and demographics. Darleny talked about Preparing your presentation, Observation/the power of watching and listening, physical characteristics, interviews, questionnaires and audience analysis. Finally, Naomy presented five important factors to face as a speaker: listening, public speaking, tips for presentations, the importance of your topic and knowing your audience. All the students did an amazing job in my opinion. I loved how all of them went up to the front of the classroom with confidence and did their part. In the first presentation I learned a lot. In chapter one, I learned methods to get rid of your fears and anxieties for presentation, to avoid certain things while presenting and to know and learn your audience. In chapter two, I learned the foundations of public speaking and the types of presentation. In chapter three, I learned about the purposes of speeches. In chapter four, I learned how to prepare my presentations. In conclusion, for the first presentation, I learned a lot and overall the members of group one did amazing. Group 2 presentations were on chapters five through 9 which all of them did very well on their presentations in my opinion. Chapter 5 was presented by Bryan and Alexander. Bryan talked about why you’ll benefit from research, finding sources and information and evaluating and using sources of information. Alexander finished chapter 5 speaking about identifying appropriate supporting materials, numbers and statistics and the ethical use of supporting material. In chapter 6 we had Mayla and Jorel Present. Mayla Presented about why organization is important, the principles of outlining, types of outlines that are created and how the presentation should be organized. In chapter 7 we had Tania and Kaylic present about effective delivery, modes of delivery, how you can use your own voice effectively, how to use your body to communicate and to improve your delivery. In chapter 8 we had Bryan and Kenny and they spoke about the characteristics of language, how to improve the clarity of your language, and also the style of your language, ethical consideration and ways to improve your language use. Finally we had Maria and Ana finish off chapter two, presenting chapter nine with benefits of using sensory aids, types of visual and sensory aids, how effective visual and sensory aids are used and how to keep focus on the message. In chapter five I learned about the importance of research and selecting quality trustable sources. Failing to have qualifying citations could cost your whole audience or reader’s trust. In chapter six I learned about the importance of organization and outlining your presentation. Also, having the proper structure in your work will keep the audience entertained in what you're talking about. So, from that I know to have a good outline of what and how my presentation will be. In chapter seven I learned about proper delivery of presentations and how you can use speech effectively. Proper delivery of your presentation will keep the audience entertained. In chapter eight I learned about what a proper language is and how to use clear concise language that your audience will understand. Finally in chapter nine I learned about how the use of sensory aids can improve your presentation. The audience needs visual stimulation to be entertained with the presentation. In conclusion, group two did a great job presenting chapter five through nine. In my Group, which is group 3, we presented chapter ten through twelve and the appendix. First up we had chapter 10 which Amanda, Ashley and Stephanie talked about skills for the informative presenter which are defining, describing, explaining and demonstrating and some guidelines for positive ethical choices for an informative presentation. In chapter 11, Amber and Bethany Spoke about Persuasive presentation, elements of persuasion, critical responses, making persuasive arguments and what ethical principles should guide persuasive speaking. In chapter 12 we had Javier, Carlos and Laura present about types of special occasion presentations, unique characteristics, presentations to welcome, presentation to pay tribute, presentations to introduce, presentations to dedicate, presentations to nominate, presentations to commemorate, farewell presentations, Recognition addresses, Presenting to entertain and how to prepare special occasion presentations. Finally, we had Adrian and myself present the Appendix. Adrian started it off by speaking about how small groups and public speaking connect, why small groups are used for presentations and skills you need for an effective group presentation. Finally I spoke about how the group should plan its workflow, types of group presentations and how you should evaluate group productivity. In my groups presentations, I learned about the skills that an informative presenter needs to have, what persuasive presentations are and how to plan or create one, different types of presentations that you could make and how to organize group projects. I had a lot of fun doing this group project. At first I was nervous to present but after calming myself down, it was fun and I would definitely do it again.
